Intro:

I was invited to design an event website for KASBP, a non-profit organization whose members include Korean-American professionals working in the Biotech or Pharmaceutical field. It holds two symposiums yearly with invited experts from all over the U.S., and I was tasked to design one of its yearly symposiums. This is a solo project, and deliverables include low-fidelity and high-fidelity mockups in Figma, illustrations, and animated GIFs.

The Challenge
Effectively convey and structure the webpage to present conference information, such as schedule, speakers, abstracts, and registration details, in a visually appealing and user-friendly manner.
The Outcome
Incorporated creative visual representations of biochemical concepts and research topics, using graphics, illustrations, and diagrams that are informative and visually engaging. These captivating visuals enhanced the engagement of attendees, effectively showcasing the conference's values and captivating their interest. Additionally, I designed a responsive webpage optimized for various devices and screen sizes, ensuring a seamless user experience whether accessed through desktops, tablets, or mobile devices.
My goal is to create a captivating and immersive biochemistry conference webpage that transcends the boundaries of traditional event websites. I aim to transport attendees into the captivating world of biochemistry, igniting their curiosity and enthusiasm through visually stunning graphics, interactive elements, and seamless user experience. By merging the realms of design and science, my objective is to craft a digital space that not only informs and engages but also inspires attendees to explore the wonders of biochemistry and foster meaningful connections within the scientific community.
Reflections & Takeaways:

It was a great experience for me to not only upgrade my UI/UX design experience, but through the process, I could practice and utilize my illustration and motion graphics skills to bring a more fun and interesting site to look at. With my motion graphics skills, I created moving cells and a rotating DNA structure to emphasize that the event is themed on biochemistries. It was my first solo freelance project, and through the project, I learned to be more confident in my design decisions without the guidance of senior designers.
